All
the lay faithful participate in the liturgy to an equal degree.
Some may choose to participate as altar ministers.
Acolytes.
In other parishes, acolytes are sometimes known as "altar boys
or girls." Because there are relatively few children at St.
Victor's, the duties of acolytes are usually undertaken by adults.
No special training is necessary; those who wish to serve as acolytes
are welcome to learn by doing. Contact the master
of ceremonies to learn more.
Lectors.
Those who proclaim the Word must have a strong, clear speaking voice
and be willing to thoughtfully and prayerfully prepare for the Mass
readings. If you would like to serve as a lector, contact the master
of ceremonies.
Eucharistic
ministers. Members of the laity are welcome to bring the Body
and Blood of Christ to the members of his Church. Most often this
is done at Mass, but at times it is necessary to bring communion
to those confined to their homes or hospitals. To volunteer for
this ministry, contact the pastor.

At our parish, we carefully observe the rubrics (uniform regulations
on how the liturgy is celebrated), so that the faithful may enjoy
a prayerful environment free of distraction. Learn the basics of
serving at the altar with this helpful guide, available in PDF format.
