Frances Xavier Cabrini died in Chicago on December 22, 1917. She was an immigrant from Lombardy, the youngest of 13 children .She founded the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart and albored for 28 years in the United States and South America, establishing some 67 schools, hospitals and orphanages. In 1946, she became the first U.S. citizen to be canonized.
