Nicholas December 6 Nicholas died in the Fourth Century. He was bishop of Myra in Asia Minor, a model pastor noted for his charity. He is patron of Russia, Greece, Sicily and Lorraine and it is his spirit and life that were the origins of the Santa Claus legend.
