Isabel
de Olica (died 1617 at age 31), a Peruvian mystic, was nicknamed
"Rosa" because of her beauty. She was A lay Dominican
who lived a life of penance and solitude, caring for the elderly,
homelss and the sick. She was the first saint of the New World and
is national patroness of the Philppines and of South America.
