A native of Ireland, Fr. Brennan was ordained in 1968 in the Society
of African Missions. Fr. Brennan, who is a fluent Spanish speaker,
was a missionary in Argentina from 1969 to 1979 where he taught
in Cordoba in a teachers training college and later worked
in Santiago del Estero, one of the poorest provinces of Argentina.
From 1979 to 1981 he did his doctoral studies in Rome. He defended
his dissertation, The Evangelization of Indians of Ancient Tucuman,
1550-1614 in June, 1981 and, it was published in 1989. Fr. Brennan
served as a professor and vice-rector at St. Augustines Major
Seminary in Nigeria. In 1990, he published Christian Mission
in a Pluralistic World (Paulist Press). In 1997, his book, Christ
the One Sent was published by Liturgical Press.
