The
Catholic tradition ascribes great importance to the passage of time.
Although we know that God, in his eternal presence, is unlimited
by the bounds of time and that one day we too shall know no such
limitations, when we are on earth we are subject to the constraints
of time and space.
Therefore,
the Church sanctifies time. We dedicate time to the Lord by the
hour in the Liturgy of the Hours, by the day in our personal prayer
life and by the year according to the liturgical calendar, with
its observances for days, weeks and seasons.
Through
these observances we do not seek so much to commemorate the events
of salvation history in some distant past, but to make them come
alive for us in our everyday lives and to transform us in our individual
process of conversion. Thus, Easter is not just a celebration of
an event some 2,000 years ago, but is a time for us to experience
that event in our own faith journey.
We
invite you to experience the year of grace with us on this Web site,
in our liturgical celebrations at St. Victor's, and in your own
daily life.
